PR.12.2 Plan and prepare for the project on applying broken colour effects on the wall with the help of rag rolling,in consultation with your work group members. PRJ2.3 Make a list of all the material, tools and equipment required to successfully complete the project project on painting the wall with broken colour effects by rag rolling, in consultation with your work group members. Write your responses in Template-3.
PRJ2.4 Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) as per template-4 and take all safety precautions before starting work, including:
• Identify and implement the signage and barricading requirements as per industry and regulatory requirement
• Identify and complete environmental requirements in accordance with environmental plans and regulatory obligations
• Ensure that work area is clear of rubbish and other unnecessary material.
• Plan the overall safety including PPE requirement
• Identify and assess risks to other workers, power supply and other services
• Check the MSDS, identify the requirements and fill the attached Template-5
Part(B) : Paint wall by applying broken colour effects with the help of rag rolling
In this part of the project, you must use the plan prepared in part A of this task to complete the project on painting the wall by applying broken colour effects with the help of rag rolling. You must ensure to work safely and meet the Australian standards, manufacturer recommendation and specifications.
You must carry out face-to-face routine communication using a variety of communication modes and apply visual communication as per accepted industry practice or social conventions.
You are also required to assess your own performance and identify areas of improvement. You must fill the given templates to write your responses. You must complete the following activities for successfully completing the project on applying broken colour effects on wall with the help of rag rolling:
PRJ2.5 Obtain the required material, safely handle it to the work location and store it properly in ready to use condition. Visually inspect the components, tools and equipment and report any faults to your trainer/assessor.
PRJ2.6 Prepare the substrate surface (wall surface not less than 6 square metres) for painting as per requirements and standards including:
• Fill defects
• Sand smooth
• Clean the wall surfaces using a sponge and clean water
• Dry the surfaces
• Protect the adjoining surface by masking off
• Provide adequate ventillation and ensure dust free environment
PRJ2.7 Measure your work area and prepare the correct amount of paint material in specified ratio and drying time and in designed proportion and consistency, in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards
PRJ2.8 Apply the base coat, a coloured emulsion, acrylic or oil-based eggshell or thinned gloss paint and allow it to dry completely
PRJ2.9 Have your trainer inspect your work now before proceeding to the next step.
PRJ2.10 Apply the stumble glaze to the correct visocity, using an oil or acrylic colourant.
PRJ2.11. Produce the broken colour effect with rag rolling method. It involves applying the colour with a brush or roller and then lifting the colour off with the rag. The rag used should be a lint-free cloth.
PRJ2.12 Clean off the rag and repeat the process, remembering to alter the direction in which you roll the rag across the surface.
PRJ2.13 Apply a clear coating to achieve an even finish to specified sheen level
PRJ2.14 Have your trainer inspect your work now before proceeding to the next step.
PRJ2.15 Clean your tools and equipment check and store accordance with manufacturer recommendations and standard work practices.
PRJ2.16 Store unused material, and dispose waste in accordance with the legislation, regulations, codes of practice and job specification.
PRJ2.17 Call a simple site meeting following the correct procedure for site meetings. Discuss about any five(S) learnings from the project execution and assess your individual performance by discussing with your team members and identify the areas of improvement. Also, identify atleast one instance of unclear visual communication and the corresponding corrective action. You must fill the attached Template-6:

Project task:
This assessment task requires you to complete a project. This project Is divided into two(2) parts. Part A requires you to plan and prepare for executing the project and part B requires you to complete the project to apply special effects of imitation wood graining on a panel door, by following safe working procedures.
This is an individual task. You will be evaluated for your skills to plan and schedule tasks, follow skills to interpret and follow instructions and contribute to workplace responsibilities. You will be required to use communication skills to interpret and follow plans and specifications. You need to demonstrate skills for planning and preparation, paint handling, tool and equipment selection and use, workplace and equipment safety requirements and producing decorative paint finishes.
Part A: plan and prepare for applying imitation wood graining on a Panel door
in this part of the project, you are required to plan and prepare (or the project on applying imitation wood graining effect on a panel door, which is to be attempted in Part B of this assessment task. You need to understand the requirements from plans, specifications and other sources of information, plan for the required material and identify the quality and statutory requirements. You are then required to plan and prepare for completing the project. In this, task you are also required to carry out job safety analysis of the work site and fill the given templates. You must complete planning activities in accordance with JSA and safe work method statements and regulations.
Steps to follow

Part B: Apply imitation Carrera marble effect on a panel by brush
In this part of the project, you must use the plan prepared in part A of this task to complete the project on applying imitation Carrera marble effect on a panel. You must ensure to work safely and meet the Australian standards, manufacturer recommendations and job specifications. You must fill the given templates to write your responses. You must complete the following activities for successfully completing the project on applying imitation Carrera marble effect on a Panel:

PRJ5.6 Apply the ground coat; white eggshell if done in an oil-based ground, or white emulsion if done in a water based ground
PRJ5.7 Have your trainer inspect your work now before proceeding to the next step.
PRJ5.8 Apply the raw umber glaze in a diagonal direction on the surface and then apply the light grey coating in the same direction
PRJ5.9 Stipple out the brush marks in the same direction, then soften the coating with a badger softener in the same direction
PRJ5.10 Soften the coating at right angles and then return to soften again in the same direction you applied the umber
PRJ5.11 Add the veins with a sable artist's brush using both mixtures of glaze, adding a black tint to darken the veins
