A piece of clear plastic has index of refraction 1.1 and is submerged in water. A beam of light hits the surface of the plastic at an angle theta 1 from the normal. If theta 1 is large enough, theta 2 will be greater than 90 degrees, so that the refracted beam is bent back into the water. (This is called total internal reflection.) For what minimum value of theta one will this occurs?
