Physicians recognize the value of collaborative care. However, they also identified a number of barriers to the successful implementation of collaborative care. Including this six (6) problems:

1. Unresolved remuneration and pay issues;

2. Lack of adequate program funding;

3. Lack of time for proper implementation;

4. Accountability for patient care is ambiguous;

5. Unresolved medical liability issues; and

6. Resistance to change for professionals, institutions, politicians and governments.
