There are five most commonly recognized individual, couple, and family crisis events: physical illness, mental illness, an extramarital affair, unemployment, substance abuse, and death of a loved one. While many couples or families experience these stressors throughout their lives, not all deal with them well. For this post I want you to select one of the stressors above and reflect on the possible ways that a family can handle such a stressful event. Please describe and discuss one positive and productive strategy to handle your chosen stressor, and one harmful way to respond to it. Please focus on the family as a unit rather than on individual family members' responses.
