Researchers have determined that red is a color which excites people, increasing blood pressure, respiration, heart rate, and brain and muscle activity. Similarly, the color yellow cheers and excites, though not quite as much as red. On the other hand, a soothing effect is caused by blue. Researchers report a decrease in blood pressure of individuals placed in a blue room. And, finally, a bubble-gum shade of pink has been proven to be a mood-improver. Several psychiatric and penal facilities report a marked improvement in behavior of individuals placed in pink-colored rooms.

a. The discoveries of color researchers have no real use in the everyday world.

b. Colors have physical and psychological effects on people.
