1. Search CINAHL using the term "phenomenology," "ethnography," or "grounded theory." Select one nursing research study published in an English-language peer-reviewed nursing journal focused on patients and/or families. Publication date must be within the last FIVE (5) years.
2. No Systematic Review or Meta-Analysis Articles.
3. The PowerPoint Presentation will be posted in the Discussion area along with the PDF of the qualitative study. Also, submit the presentation and PDF to the Assignment link for grading.
4. Plan for exactly 20 PowerPoint slides for the presentation. The last slide should not be a reference slide. The Info will appear on the first slide. Be sure to use bullets for key information. Do not write out sentences on the slide. Before starting the slides, review the overview of qualitative research PowerPoint posted in the content area and the book.
PowerPoint Slides
1. Title Slide - Identify the title of the article Also include your name and credentials, NURS 350, and date.
2. Identify the author(s) full names, credentials and affiliation. Are all of the authors nurses, or are other disciplines represented?
3. Describe why you have chosen this study to present.
4. Quote the aim/purpose and cite the page number.
5. Describe the concept being investigated (e.g. transition, hope, loss, learning needs, etc.)
6. Describe the qualitative approach used for the study.
7. Identify the type (purposive, theoretical, or convenience and snowball sampling) and size of the sample, and provide a detailed description of the actual participants (do not state the inclusion/exclusion criteria).
8. Describe how the data was collected.
9. Describe how the data was analyzed.
10. Describe the results/findings of the study. First, list the themes, then provide the name of each theme and a detailed description of each theme. The results are the most important part of the presentation. Do not list information from the Discussion part of the article.
11. Describe how you felt after reading the participants' experiences in the study.
12. Describe how you could use the results in your nursing practice.
13. Identify at least one weakness of the study that you see and describe why (not the author's statement of limitations).
14. Provide your overall opinion of the study.
15. Use photos and/or graphs to enhance the presentation. The presentation should have exactly 20 slides. Select words carefully. Bullet information. The presentation should be visually appealing, as well as scholarly.
