Assessment Task Description

This group assessment is broken into three parts:

Part 1 - Brainstorming and PEST analysis
Part 2 - Marketing Mix Report
Part 3 - Presentation of PEST analysis and Marketing Mix Report

The group will consist of four students. Your first task is to choose an established business in the Australian market and develop a report that analyses the PEST issues and competition that currently affect this business.

Ensure that when writing your report you use APA reference style when developing your reference list and citation. 5 academic references must be included for first part of the assessment.

Assessment tasks and requirements
The assessment will be done in three different stages:

Assessment Part 1 - Brainstorming and PEST analysis
• Identify and asses environmental factors that may impact on the marketing mix
o Political & Legal
o Economic
o Socio-cultural
o Technological
• Identify and research the competitive environment for their potential impact on marketing mix
• Identify consumer priorities , needs and preferences that affect marketing mix (Identify the target market that meets marketing objectives)
• Ensure marketing mix decision meets organisational, strategic and operational marketing objectives
• Use the research sources suggested above to provide a list of academic references that have contributed to your analysis and informed your opinions and recommendation for the marketing mix.

Assessment Part 2 - Marketing Mix Report

o Using the ‘Business' you have chosen, the information you have presented in the PEST analysis and the research you have conducted establish a suitable marketing mix for your business.
o You must use correct information, dates and figures where appropriate. However, if some information is not available you can provide them, but they must realistically reflect the business.

Establish and document a marketing mix that will improve marketing outcomes of your business. Remember to include detailed information about:
o Products
o Pricing variables
o Promotional methods
o Channels of distribution

Use the following format to complete this task, ensure you address each component of the marketing mix and formulate appropriate strategies for improving the marketing outcomes:

c. Place Strategy
d. Promotion Strategy

Assessment Part 3 - Presentation

Each group will have 15 minutes to present their Marketing Mix report and the findings and 5 minutes of question time. It will be 20 minutes in total with 5 minutes question time inclusive. The presentation must be done in a form of a power point. The group is encouraged to use visual aids during the presentation such as flyers, posters, whiteboards or props. The students can use following in their power point slides: charts, graphs, statistics, pictures, photos and videos.
