SF Chronicle front page today reads, "College to Cut Programs." In this article it describes how programs such as anthropology are going to be cut at your College. (This is fictional). Your task this week is to craft a letter to Dean Manfrengenson (fictive dean) to defend anthropology as a discipline from these cuts. The dean has no idea of what anthropology is, why it is useful, or what it is about. You want to provide a persuasive letter about why anthropology should not be cut by describing what anthropology is, the history of the discipline, what anthropologists do, and so forth. Use as specific examples as possible. Be sure to discuss how anthropology is similar and/or different from other disciplines such as psychology or sociology.
