The GDPR is the toughest privacy and security law in the world. There are seven requirements of the GDPR: lawfulness fairness and transparency, purpose limitation, data minimization, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity and confidentiality, and accountability. The US privacy law limits regulated data to financial or health information whereas the GDPR regulates a lot more than that. They regulate IP addresses, location information, and cookie data.

Perspectives on the GDPR differ between consumers and businesses. For businesses, there are a lot more things to keep up with making it a challenge for them to abide by the new laws and avoid being fined. Whereas consumers enjoy it because they know that they are protected.

I do believe that the world should have privacy laws because consumers deserve to have their privacy and not have it sold to the highest bidder.
