Critically evaluate and discuss how the concepts of 'Best fit' or/and 'best practice' could be applied to the strategic management of human resources in the context of a volatile business environment such as the impact of Covid-19.

The question asks you to consider two perspectives of SHRM, 'best fit' or 'best practice' in terms of their impact on organizational performance in the different contexts of the business environment . This means that you need to consider all of the views in the academic literature on this topic and, on the basis of the evidence, give reasons; describe how something happens.

The main issues in the essay are set out on topic three and four. Reviewing the lecture slides and reading chapters three and four of the textbook is a good place to start, as it will give you a good idea of the key issues and the different approaches to them. It will also give you some key points to use in your required literature research on the topic.
