This video features artist Jordan Casteel who is a painter. She uses the medium of paint to document people around her. Her work is part portrait, part social commentary.

During the Late Antiquity and Byzantine periods, the artwork that was commonly found in churches was meant to be reflective, to remind the viewer of what was important to them. Jordan's work is similar in a way to those church paintings and mosaics because she uses them as way to reflect, sit, and focus her attention on the things she values and the messages she wants to spread. This is something that we do not do enough because of technology and how interwoven it is in our lives.

- What do you think of her work?

- Do you think the work of artists like Jordan are an important part of society? If so why?

- What is important about her perspective of "looking at the world with fresh eyes".

- Why is her focus on who is unseen? Why is this an important voice/perspective in art?
