Build a specific and personal Leadership Development Plan (LDP)
Your LDP will include these components:
1. Introduction (approximately 2 to 3 pages)
a. Describe yourself as a leader, your current profession and your professional goals. Discuss why you are pursuing advanced studies, and how you hope to leverage your skills, and where you hope to be as leader in five to ten years.
2. Identifying High Impact Creative Competencies and Reactive Tendencies (approximately 3 to 4 pages)
a. Describe the Creative Competencies that you want to sustain and grow. Prioritize 2 to 3 and explain why you believe these Creative Competencies are most valuable for you to leverage. How will you utilize these Creative Competencies to advance your leadership effectiveness?
b. Describe the Reactive Tendencies that may be self-limiting to you. Prioritize 2-3 and explain why you believe they may be significant in limiting to your effectiveness as a leader.
3. Leveraging Creative Competencies and Minimizing Reactive Tendencies (approximately 4 to 5 pages). Link your responses to course readings, resources and discussions.
a. This is the HOW section. Provide specific examples. Explore what actions will need to happen, how you continuously gain feedback on your actions and plans you may have for adjusting as needed.
b. What behaviors will you need to engage in to sustain and grow your Creative Competencies? What relationships /tasks may need to be considered? How will you accomplish this? What is the timespan? Who will you involve for feedback and insight? Who will support and guide you?
c. What behaviors will you need to engage in to minimize Reactive Tendencies? What relationships /tasks may need to be considered? How will you prepare yourself for this change? What is the timespan? Who will you involve for feedback and insight? Who will support and guide you?
4. Conclusion (2 to 3 pages)
a. Compare your goals from the Introduction section with the Leveraging Creative Competencies and Minimizing Reactive Tendencies section. Discuss the alignment of your goals with the actions you plan take. What are you most confident in accomplishing? What do you see as most challenging?
b. Describe how your views on being a leader evolved in the last few weeks.
c. What did you learn from other students?
d. What are 2 to 3 key points that you believe are most important to consider when making the commitment to be a leader?
