This reminds me of an excerpt from the textbook. Chapter one in Thinking Critically About Ethical Issues, discussed the differences between laws and ethics. Many laws are created for the safety of the general public. Think about what doctors face when they have patients that have signed "do not resuscitate" forms. A DNR order tells medical professionals not to perform life saving methods. Doctors must abide by this order or they are breaking the law. What if this goes against the health care professional's ethical beliefs.
