Your patient is 15 years old Tommy. He is coming in today for persistent bowel issues including diarrhea and constipation but when asked if he has blood in his stool he replies "no". He said he rarely has normal defecation and often experiences bloating/gas pains after eating large meals. You ask him what his diet looks like everyday. He is an athlete so he eats a large amount of carbohydrates including bread, pasta, cereals and snack foods. He has games often twice a week and loads up on carbohydrates days before each meet. Because of the exercise and irregular bowel movements, he is losing a lot of weight rapidly and constantly in fatigue. You think this could possibly be.
