Question

The patient presented with persistent and sharp upper abdominal pain that often radiates to the back over the past 48 hours. The pain is rated as 5 out of 10 in severity and lasts approximately four to five hours. It is exacerbated by consuming fatty or spicy foods, assuming a supine or bending position, and alleviated by abstaining from food or drink. Additionally, the patient reported experiencing nausea, vomiting, bloating, loss of appetite, heartburn, racing heart, weakness, and fullness. The patient denied dizziness, constipation, or diarrhea, with no significant changes in bowel movements. The patient's last bowel movement occurred today and was characterized as form and brown. However, the patient could not confirm whether the stool was floating or if mucus was present. The patient disclosed taking over-the-counter Tylenol 650 mg orally every six hours, which provided some relief. Furthermore, the patient admitted to participating in a social event two days ago, consuming approximately one bottle of wine and smoking cannabis. The patient provided the history.
