Please help with the following question

A researcher classifies each of 29 people as either High- or Low- Need for Success. He wants to know if this variable predicts persistence in a boring physical task (persistence is measured as time, in minutes, spent on the task before the subject gives up). For the 17 High-Need subjects, mean persistence time was 12.3 minutes, with a standard deviation of 7.1. For the 12 Low-Need subjects, the mean time was 8.4 minutes, with a standard deviation of 6.3. Test the researcherâs hypothesis (at the .01 level).
