Another research lab discovers a new species of fish. You are working in a biotech lab studying the biochemistry of saltwater/freshwater dynamics. After investigation, you can deduce that this is some species of bony fish. Based on survey data from the UC Fish and Wildlife, you know that this species is native to fresh water and ocean environments across North America. It returns to freshwater to spawn, after living two to three years in the ocean.

Perhaps the most interesting and perplexing characteristic of the fish is its homing behavior. This allows this species to accurately detect the same spawning grounds despite venturing to the open ocean and returning to the sam freshwater.
