In fiscal 1996, the U.S. Agency for International Development provided 238,300 metric tons of corn soy blend (CSB) for development programs and emergency relief in countries throughout the world. CSB is a highly nutritious, low-cost fortified food that is partially cooked and can be incorporated into different food preparations by the recipients.
The specifications for the CSB state that the mixture should contain 2 pounds of vitamin premix for every 200 pounds of product. These specifications are designed to produce a mean vitamin C content in the final product of 40mg per 100g. A sample of 8 readings from a production run has a mean of 22.50mg per 100g with a standard deviation of 7.19mg per gram.
Is there significant evidence that this production run does not meet the specifications? Use a 1% level of significance.
1. State the Null Hypothesis and the Alternative Hypothesis
2. Determine the test statistic.
3. Determine the P-value
4. Make a decision regarding the hypotheses based on the P-value and the Level of Significance.
Compute the 95% confidence interval on the population mean if a sample of 1000 is taken and the sample mean is found to be 15.95 and standard deviation is 4.2.
A large tank of fish from a hatchery is being delivered to a lake. The hatchery claims that the mean length of fish in the tank is 15 inches, and the standard deviation is 2 inches. A random sample of 36 fish is taken from the tank.
As the Marketing Director of Harley-Davidson, you need to determine what your customers would like in the next model. You put a survey on the Harley Web site. Is this a good frame from which to select your sample? Explain.
Take a random sample and perform a t-test against a population mean (no time series for any parts of this project.) Test a hypothesis about a population mean.

Why is estimating a multiple regression model just as easy as bivariate regression?
Determine expectation of number of vehicles passing through this specified point in ten minutes.
Find a 90% confidence interval for the mean amount left by all groups.
In this continuous production process, the amount of toothpaste put in a tube is normally distributed with a mean of 8.17 ounces and a standard deviation of 0.12 ounces. If the actual capacity of the tubes used is 8.49 ounces, what proportion of t..
