As explained, the quality of the performance is a huge importance within the knowledge work, but the most crucial question that is asked it, “What is the task?”, this question is the root of everything that goes on within any company or industry. Each job has a certain “task” that needs to be accomplished in order to produce their part in the company, without learning about their tasks they would be clueless and do a horrible job creating many problems. Each worker demands what needs to be done and how it needs to be done; this is why training happens in most jobs before the job is actually done. During this training process they learn how to do their job and what specifically needs to be done, they also learn about the rules and restrictions that they have within their work space. Because of this, during the process the workers ask the questions: “What is your task? What should it be? What should you be expected to contribute? What hampers you in doing your task and should be eliminated?” These questions sum up what needs to be done creating confidence within the worker so that they can do their job. Knowledge workers themselves almost always have though through these questions and can answer them. Though this is the case asking the questions and taking action on the answers usually doubles or triples knowledge worker productivity, and this happens quickly. A great example of this is in a hospital. In a hospital there are many nurses that are divided into many different groups where each group of nurses has their own separate task that all combines to complete one huge task. Some could be divided for example as patient care, and another one as satisfying the physicians. Dividing the group of nurses and creating separate tasks creates great organization and clarity for these nurses and can help finish the one big task that they are all aiming for.
