OVERVIEW:
Continuing to use the SHRM case study, students will present a second power point presentation that builds on the information from the first presentation and applies some of the additional material assigned in the class. Students will:
Question 1: Propose at least three recommendations to enhance the performance in the HR domain and/or HR roles of PAC (using the SWOT assessment, look at the findings and select recommendations that will improve results for the HR department; examples could be development of needed expertise in HR competencies, adding technology, outsourcing some of the functions, reorganization of duties, more feedback from internal or external customers)
Question 2: Describe if the recommendations will add value to the areas of people, performance, information and/or workflow (these areas are explained in the course modules/commentary; look at each recommendation and decide what area or areas the recommendations will improve; use the chart provided)
Question 3: Describe ways to institutionalize best practices in the recommended areas (this refers to implementing, introducing or codifying the recommendations; examples could be rewriting policies, procedures, job descriptions, establishing metrics, revising performance management programs)
Question 4: Propose a HR So That Statement (this is the mission statement of the HR function which communicates to the organization Who are the people who work in HR or What Roles thy plan, What do they do and Why they do they do it?
An example is the following:
- Who: The HR Team are strategic positioners who
- What: Serve their internal customers to ensure core employee competencies, an engaged workforce and co-creatation of strategic initiatives
- Why: So that PAC has sustained business success.
Question 5: Summarize and provide conclusions
