This is a role play where you are required to discuss the process required to resolve a conflict. You must demonstrate how you mediate between the manager and employee to resolve the conflict.
You are required to perform the role of a Human Resources Manager and support the line manger to counsel and discipline the staff as describe in the scenario below. (script required) Time for role play 8-10 minutes.
During the role play you are required to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to work with line managers to ensure intervention occurs as required.
- Ability to provide guidance to discipline underperforming employees
- Ability to apply dispute resolution process
- Ability to mediate between the line manager and employee
- Ability to document dispute resolution processes
- Ability to explain performance review process including termination of employees who fail to respond to interventions
Scenario
John has been the sales manager for over a year. His sales reports show an increase in sales and he seems to know how to motivate his reps pretty well.
However, one of his sales staff Jacob is consistently late and does not meet his KPI's. John is frustrated with Jacob's performance and tried counselling him several times. Jacob tends to get very involved with others techniques, corrects them when he thinks they are making a mistake, and doesn't take criticism himself very well.
Additionally, in the last three performance review his performance was found to be below average.
This behaviour of Jacob is affecting the team morale. Therefore, John has approached the Human Resources Manager for expert advice.
