A news story published several years ago about sleep deprivation in America noted that lack of sleep causes highway accidents and deaths. According to the article 51% of adult drivers admitted to driving while drowsy. A researcher studying night shift workers hypothesized that the proportion who drove while drowsy would be larger among those workers. A sample of 500 night shift workers found that 285 admitted to driving while drowsy. Is there sufficient evidence to conclude that the proportion of night shift workers who drive while drowsy is greater than the proportion reported in the news story?
