Let's face it, when you interview for a job, you are normally interviewing against other people competing for the job.
What's the first thing to do to help you get ready for the interview?
Prep.
You have the help wanted ad. Start by reviewing the ad and making sure it is a job that you want and that you feel capable of doing well. Be honest with yourself about 'fit'.
Fit is about your abilities as well as the culture of an organization.
Prep by:
1) Researching the company. Gather info and study it! Your end goal is to study to a point that you can reflect to your interviewer that you have taken the time to study even before you are hired!
2) Dissecting the Help wanted ad. Again make sure you fit or can easily gain the skills necessary to perform the advertised job. Outline the specific skills they are looking for. Address how you fill them. Make notes. Then form your responses.
The more you can formulate and prep ahead of your interview the better. When the pressure is on, if you have practiced you will perform at your best.
List any tips or experiences you might have that will help others.
