Question: Some of your advertisements seem to get no reaction, as though they are being ignored by the public. You have arranged for a study to measure the public's awareness of your brand before and after viewing a TV show that includes the advertisement in question. You wish to see if the ad has a statistically significant effect as compared with zero, representing no effect. Your brand awareness, measured on a scale from 1 to 5, was found to have increased an average of 0.22 point when 200 people were shown an advertisement and questioned before and after. The standard deviation of the increase was 1.39 points.
