1. Develop a series of interview questions (about 10 questions-- can be open-ended, closed-ended questions, or a mixture of both) designed to determine citizens' satisfaction with local police or community policing. Please be sure to explain how you would ask the questions and the benefits of this type of survey.
2. Do you see any issues with the types of questions or wording of questions? (For example, are your questions clear? Are you asking more than one question at a time? etc.)
More suggestions to consider as you work on this activity.
1. Consider including a topic title. Example: Local Residents' Perceptions of Policing in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV)
2. Please consider including a purpose for your interview assignment as that would make it easier for potential respondents to participate. For example, " The purpose of this interview assignment is to gather data on "Local Residents' Perceptions of Community Policing in the Rio Grande Valley" to better help the researcher understand citizens' satisfaction with the police at the community level. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you may choose not to continue with this interview at any time without penalty or consequences. If you volunteer to participate in this interview, no personal identifiers (for example, name, date of birth, telephone, email, etc.) will be included. Your responses will remain confidential...
3. Please address the activity in its entirety (that is both questions 1 & 2). For example (for question #2) are your questions clear? Are you asking more than one question at a time? Are your questions focused on the topic? Please consider discussing the type of interview (e.g., structured, unstructured, etc. Will the interview be face-to-face, via telephone, Skype, etc.?) you will conduct and why. It is also important to clearly address the wording of your questions -- does each question build on the previous one?
