In the movie Limitless (2011), a drug exists that makes people's brains work at maximum efficiency. (Telling you this this doesn't spoil the movie for you, by the way. AND I got confirmation from a neuropharmacologist that the basic idea of the drug is, in theory, realistic! So it could happen! Possibly not with the same results as in the movie, however.) Let's say that I take that drug. It makes me a very good predictor of people since I can process a lot of micro-signals at the same time and tell what people are thinking. I then strike up a conversation with you. Reading your body and using what I know about you, I predict everything you're going to say or do, and text it to you just before you say it. I'm right every time. I could be wrong, but it turns out I'm not. What would this say about you? Would this mean that everything you do is actually predictable? Would this mean that you are mostly pre-determined, either by physical necessities or social conditioning? Why or why not? If so, which actions and why? If not, are there any actions you would call predetermined? Why or why not?
