Eileen, a 58-year-old female, is seeking help for chronic low back pain and constipation. low back pain is low grade stiffness and dull, aching pain that has been present for many years. pain worsens when sitting at her desk for work and is rated 2/10 intensity. In terms of constipation, Eileen has been experiencing it for the past decade, with 3-4 bowel movements per week on average. In the past year, she has noticed a decrease in frequency, going 3-4 days without a bowel movement. To alleviate constipation, she takes OTC laxatives like Dulcolax or Ex-lax but dislikes the side effects. Eileen is interested in a more holistic approach to address her constipation issue. medications include Ex-lax or Dulcolax as needed for constipation lasting longer than 3 days. she has no known allergies. has a family history of heart disease and diabetes. works as an accountant and engages in housekeeping and gardening for exercise. diet mainly consists of eggs, toast, a turkey and ham sandwich, potato chips, spaghetti, cheese and crackers, and cookies and ice cream for snacks.
