Question

The patient was placed on operation table in the supine position and monitored appropriately right neck and chest were sterilely prepped and draped. The suture securing her Hickman catheter exit site was removed.The area was infiltrated with local anesthetic of 1% Xylocaine with bicarbonate catheter was manipulated with clamp was freed up and was extruded and removed completely without the need to open the subclavian site. The catheter and its Teflon cuff were removed intact without difficulty .The wound was clean and dry and closed with one suture of 4-0 nylon. Sterile dressings were applied.She was taken to recovery in stable condition tolerating the procedure well.Blood loss was minimal. CPT Code.
