Question

One of the safety concerns that has a negative impact on patient outcomes in the hospital setting is pressure injuries. The goal of patient care in the hospital setting is to improve patient conditions, not have them develop more issues throughout their stay. Unfortunately, hospital-acquired pressure injuries are a prevalent problem in hospitals and acute care settings throughout the United States. An estimated 2.5 million individuals in the hospital and acute care setting will develop pressure injuries annually (Padula et al., 2018). The impact that hospital-acquired pressure injuries have on patient outcomes is detrimental.
