Email about nursing staff not performing well in her nursing task, heparin has been delayed putting the patient in subtherapeutic range for few hours. These are protocol and she needs help even programming the pump. I personnally eager to help her succeed but putting patient safety is my priority. Witnessing with her delayed initiation of heparin advisor today also putting myself and my license at stake. As far as I refused to do these but given my seniority possition and patient safety we have to initiate and continue the treatment/ medication. We been giving her numerous educationj but i feel like she is not grasping it for the problem remains the same. I gave her education again about heparin step by step but just by observing she is noyt getting it. This is the second event with regards to Heparin wherein she did not initiate heparin for 12 hours, she received education as well but these is not to be continued for patient safety. Heparin is considered high alert medication and should be taken seriously.
