You are informed by the charge nurse that you will be assuming care of a new patient being transferred from the Emergency Department (ER). Pre-transfer written report includes the following information: Mr. Sarazin is a 67 year old male transferred from the ER department who has developed a new onset of agitation and confusion over the past 48 hour. He has not been eating or drinking well for the past few days. He has wrist restraints bilaterally that were applied "for safety" due to his increased agitation. He has a history of BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia), hypertension and osteoarthritis. He has a known allergy to Penicillin (anaphylaxis). A foley catheter was inserted one month ago for urinary retention. Further information will be provided during report from the transfer nurse.
