Advanced Pathophysiology for Advanced Nursing Practice - Pathophysiology of Disease Assignment - SCHIZOPHRENIA

In this assignment, you will be choosing a disease or condition that you are interested in. Choose a topic that is related to your proposed DNP Scholarly Project. This will help you to gain an understanding of the pathophysiology of your chosen topic and build a foundation for your problem of interest and the significance to your population.

Once you choose, you will present this disease/condition and include the following:

1. Pathophysiology to include genetic/genomic, environmental, lifestyle, familial, cultural and socioeconomic influences on the development of the condition/disease. Include incidence by population, geographic location, ethnicity etc. as it applies to your topic.

2. Clinical manifestations (presentation) and progression of disease.

3. Treatment which includes pharmacological as well as nonpharmacological methods - think holistically (think about what you are learning in reflective practice, nurse coaching and stress and disease).

4. Potential complications and strategies to avoid and/or lessen those complications.

5. Education you would provide for the patient and family regarding the diagnosis, to include plan of care and what to expect as this condition progresses.

6. New or current research - what's on the horizon. This is just to see if you have found anything interesting in your research on your topic. .

This paper should be no more than 10 pages in body, excluding the title page and reference pages. It must be in APA format and no abstract is needed but you must have an introduction and conclusion. All information must be appropriately referenced with scholarly sources no more than 5 years old.
