People often use the term, "morals" and the term, "ethics," as synonyms, and just to cover their bases, they usually lump them together and refer to a person's "morals and ethics." Another term, "values," is also used to mean the same thing, or something similar to what is intended by the use of the first two terms. Your task here is to explain how philosophers differentiate these terms. How, from a philosophical point of view, do ethics differ from morals? What does the philosophical study of ethics cover, discuss, or explain that might not be part of a discussion of morality? Where do values fit into the conversation? Is a philosophical examination of morality essential for a true or deep understanding of what it means to lead a morally good life? Explain and defend your answer using whatever evidence you believe to be relevant.
