Paris is one of my favorite European cities. This question relates to a possible problem with Parisian drinking water. A number of older buildings in Paris uselead (Pb) piping for transporting drinking water. You are probably aware that Pb is highly toxic. Given that the pH of Parisian drinking water is 7 and that the water's dissolved oxygen concentration is 0.2 atm, show that Pb pipes are likely to corrode. If the water's dissolved oxygen concentration is lowered to 0 atm, is Pb still likely to corrode?
