Carl Chang is a paralegal working on some major civil rights litigation. He and his firm have spent years on the case and finally prevailed. The firm's senior partner, Danielle Dupree, asks Carl to draft a request for the fees that include his time. The petition he drafts contains the following language: "Compensation is also requested for paralegal time spent by Carl Chang, paralegal, who spent 1,000 hours drafting pleadings and correspondence, summarizing depositions, filing and organizing documents, and locating and interviewing witnesses. $300,000". Will the court grant this fee award? Why or why not? Be sure to look for more than one reason. Redraft this petition, adding all the requisite information and correcting anything else that is in error.
