Question: Research an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and discuss how its components meet the organization's overall information needs.
Student response
ParagonERP
Paragon is an ERP for small to mid-sized businesses. Based on research from an independent auditing firm, Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC), Paragon outranks its competitors in 8 of 9 modules (including human resources, inventory management, supply chain management, purchasing management, etc.). Paragon boasts a low-cost solution for a variety of business technology needs, and offers the full suite for one low monthly cost ($150/user). Additionally, it offers a back-end user interface that is intuitive, which empowers even the least tech-savvy users to successfully navigate through its numerous features and solutions. Moreover, Paragon is infinitely* customizable and can be used for any type of business. It also offers integrations with partners like UPS, FedEx, and Shopify.
However, after further investigation, it doesn't appear Paragon offers a human resources module. This is only concerning from the perspective that they advertise that they do, but practically speaking, smaller companies don't often need HRM systems to operate effectively. When the workforce grows beyond 50 people, a HRM system is absolutely necessary.
