Valles Global Industries (VGI) produces a plastic formula bottle for babies in the form of a chile. This product which was first thought of as a horrible idea has now become the most popular item in the VGI Baby Products Division. The chile bottle comes in a variety of colors (including red and green, of course) and sizes.

Recently, VGI is looking toward expanding the array of baby bottle shapes and sizes offered to include other fruits such as apples to meet consumer interest. Additionally, they are looking at buying a competing organization SohnCo's baby products group. SohnCo's baby products are standard bottles with affinity group logos (colleges and universities, Major League Baseball, etc.) molded into the bottle. These efforts seem to create a situation for a change of design and manufacturing strategy. For example, there are at least two engineering design groups who use two different CAD packages as well as several manufacturing systems. Recently, you have joined VGI as the Vice-President of Systems Engineering and the General Manager of the Baby Products Division has asked you for a proposal on what to do. Use what we have covered this semester to come up with a brief, five-page proposal.
