Your company manufactures the drop down oxygen masks used in airplanes in the event of an emergency. The aircraft manufacturer expects 400 masks per day in order to meet customer demand. The work cell producing the masks is schedule for 8 hours per day. You want to determine the takt time and number of workers required. The assembly operation has 6 steps. Step 1 takes 45 seconds, step 2 takes 1 minute, step 3 takes 25 seconds, step 4 takes 1 minute and step 5 and step 6 each take 40 seconds.
