Question: Practice good Organization skills by taking this time to look ahead at what materials you may need so that you can arrange to get anything you're missing. You will plan your own procedure for this investigation. Your procedure must allow for you to collect at least 5 different results, including a control group. Be sure to read the instructions on the label for recommended conditions and be mindful of expiration dates! A couple more points you may find useful. First, if you need to set a water bath for a particular temperature you will maintain a more consistent temperature with a larger water bath. Secondly, if you are making a batch of yeast to divide up in your minimum 5 different conditions be sure to stir it well as yeast cells tend to settle to the bottom of the solution.

yeast,
sugar (or another sweet substance, like syrup, sugar, artificial sweeteners, etc.),
salt,
vinegar,
baking soda,
teaspoon,
tablespoon,
tap water,
measuring cups,
small glasses,
a large pan,
empty water bottles,
balloons,
a kitchen thermometer,
a stopwatch,
a ruler,
string,
permanent marker.
Because you will be planning this investigation you may not need everything in this list above, or you may need material or equipment not listed here. Your experimental design should include:

the process in the activation and growth of yeast cells you are focusing on;
the factor that might affect this process;
the important parts of a fair test;
show a clear description of how the test should be performed (paragraph or a step-by-step procedure);
justify an appropriate choice of collecting quantitative results for this type of experiment.
follow the format outlined on the lab report format document and be typed, using spell check, and with properly labelled tables, pictures and a graph;
• include an introduction of important concepts in the background information section as well as a problem statement and hypothesis;
• include a detailed procedure written as a paragraph in past tense and third person perspective;
• include thorough qualitative and quantitative observations in tables. For quantitative observations, put units only in the column headings -- Ex. Volume (mL);
• include pictures of you doing the experiment and the results;
• present your results in a neat and detailed graph;
• for the discussion section include the following:
- a detailed explanation of what the results of your experiment show in terms of yeast activation
- explain if your hypothesis was supported
- evaluate if the results are reliable, and describe 1-2 sources of error and how they would have impacted your results
- suggest a real-world application of this information
• reference your sources at the end of your report in a section called "References" in APA 7th edition format in alphabetic order.
