A patient is admitted to an acute care setting due to increased anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed due to an impending divorce. She feels unloved, unwanted, and insecure about herself. She is having passive suicidal thoughts and feels unsafe. The divorce will cause her to have to leave her home, share custody of her children, and get out in the world of dating again. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs in order to assist the patient in reaching self-actualization you assist the patient in setting goals.
