For this posting, students should choose one of the following language functions that has not yet been written about on your discussion board: cultural worldview function, everyday social reality function, group membership identity function, and social change function. Once you have chosen one, post the following:

1. Give a quick overview of the function based on information in your text, and give personal examples not found in the text from the US or another culture to illustrate it.

2. Tell what one could ascertain about the culture you are discussing from your examples.

For example, for the everyday social reality function, I could say, after I have defined it, that an idiom in the US is, "Time is money." This idiom reflects the culture of the United States by showing the emphasis we place on getting this done quickly and efficiently...(going on to describe more)"
