PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Your research project is designed to integrate the various aspects of Forensic Science with the scientific principles developed through this, and other, Criminal Justice courses. You will design a PowerPoint presentation for the field assigned to you, completing a historical research project on a specialty assigned below, as well as the analysis of a case, presented under Week 8 material.

CASE REPORT REQUIREMENTS

There are two components to the final 'case report'. The first is a background on history, research, and innovations. The second is a complete case analysis.

PART 1: HISTORY, RESEARCH, AND INNOVATIONS OF FORENSIC BIOLOGY (2-3 PAGES)

An overview of the disciplines importance in forensics biology and a brief history on its evolution;
Information on any important individuals to the discipline, both past and current;
At least one article of relevant research, from a scientific journal that deals with the discipline. Include a full explanation of the research and areas for future research;
Demonstrate the importance of this field within one case in the last century (national or local);
Include background information on the case, the evidence presented that is relevant to your specialty, and any mishandling;
A Works Cited page should also be included for your sources. Sources may be obtained from print or online, and do not need to meet a minimum or maximum requirement.

PART 2: CASE ANALYSIS (3-5 PAGES)

Read through the case summary provided to understand the key details of the case and provide a summary;

Analyze the case reports assigned for your disciplines. For your discipline, provide a detailed analysis of your MOCK CASE report results.

This paper will be between 5-7 full, double-spaced pages (excluding the reference section) and must be your own work. You will be expected to demonstrate an in-depth and clear understanding of the case provided. In addition to depth of knowledge of the subject matter, your paper will be evaluated for clarity, proper sentence and paragraph structure, and proper resource citation. Reference citations must be provided in APA format and are not included in the 5-7-page count. There should be a minimum of 10 references and at least three of them **must** be original, primary research articles.
