How does Francis Fukuyama respond to the theory of the "clash of civilizations" in the 2021 book, After the End of History?

To begin, first write an introduction that includes a brief overview of the post-Cold War theoretical debates about conflict. Include a short biography of Fukuyama and your answer to the essay question.

Next, briefly compare and contrast the post-Cold War theories of conflict offered by Barber in "Jihad vs. McWorld," Huntington in "The Clash of Civilizations," and Fukuyama in The End of History (not to be confused with After the End of History). Tell me which theory you think provides the most useful lens for understanding political violence in the Post-Cold War era.

After you have done this, read Edward Said's "Clash of Ignorance." This work was written close to a decade after the above-mentioned debates took place. How does he react to these theories? Also, point to a specific passage or idea of this text that really struck a chord with you.

Read the sixteenth chapter of the book, After the End of History, entitled "Are We Experiencing a Clash of Civilizations?" Give an overview of Fukuyama's response to this question, and let us know if you find it convincing. Also, give an explanation of what Fukuyama thinks of Huntington and his theory.

Conclude your paper by giving your own thoughts on the theory of a "clash of civilizations." Did you ever think of this notion before taking this course? If so, how is it different from your understanding of it now?
