Assignment Task: For this critical assignment students will conduct an assessment of the effectiveness of their selected organization's human resources. Assessment will include examination of core HR policies and strategies related to retention, recruitment, performance & talent management, compensation, engagement. A recommendation for one improvement area will be made. (Note that assignment requirement #s correspond to the rubric dimension #s, be sure to review rubric along with the assignment instructions.)

1. Identify the selected organization: Provide a concise description of the organization. A brief introductory overview of the organization's general Human Capital philosophy (perception of value and appreciation for employees) and Human Resources Management (HRM) strategy.

2. Evaluate the organization's HR retention strategy: a. Identify 3 key strategies or culture components that are effective in promoting employee retention. b. Identify 3 HR-related barriers that may be hindering retention and/or contributing to unhealthy turn over. c. Discuss the importance of an effective HR retention strategy and examine how it contributes to the organization's overall success and sustainability.

3. Evaluate the organization's recruitment strategy: a. Identify 3 key strategies that facilitate and promote effective recruitment of new employees. b. Identify 3 key barriers that hinder optimal recruitment of new employees. c. Discuss the importance of an effective employee recruitment strategy and examine how it contributes to the organization's overall success and sustainability.

4. Evaluate the organization's performance and talent development strategy: a. Identify 3 key strategies promote high performing employees and effectively promote talent development. b. Identify 3 barriers to high performance and talent development. c. Discuss the importance of fostering high performance and developing talent for overall organizational effectiveness.

5. Evaluate the organization's compensation strategy: a. Identify 3 key strategies that promote employee compensation satisfaction. b. Identify 3 barriers for compensation satisfaction. c. Discuss the importance of employee compensation satisfaction to organizational effectiveness.

6. Evaluate the organization's employee engagement strategy: a. Identify 3 key elements that contribute to positive employee engagement. b. Identify 3 barriers that hinder positive employee engagement. c. Discuss the importance of employee engagement to organizational effectiveness.

7. Recommendation for Change: Now that you've completed a comprehensive assessment of the organization's human resources management strategy, pretend that your organization's leader has asked you to make a recommendation for making one meaningful change to enhance human relations and renew the HR strategy what would you propose be changed? a. Identify and diagnose the human resources issue that most warrants enhancing and changing. Why this one out of all of the opportunities for improvement? b. Make a recommendation for the change and discuss how the proposed changes will enhance human capital strategy.

8. HR Disrupted - EACH model: a. Discuss how your recommendation for change (dimension 7) contributes to the notion of HR Disrupted (innovative, unexpected, transformative).b. Describe how your recommendation takes into account and upholds the principles of the EACH model from HR Disrupted.

9. Ethical & Biblical Considerations: Evaluate and discuss any ethical considerations and/or repercussions of the proposed change. How do your personal faith and values inform your analysis of the need for and recommendation for the change.
