One of the solutions referenced in Chapter 6 for Overcoming Resistance to Organizational Change is to identify and co-opt the help of an employee who has much informal social influence within the organization.

Express in written about an employee with whom you work(ed) with great organizational influence:

  1. What was their job title?
  2. What did they do in the organization? Summarize their job description.
  3. In what ways did they demonstrate charisma and informal social influence with other employees? Explain in a few sentences.
  4. How might they help in implementing or popularizing a change initiative at the workplace in which you knew them?

If you have no personal experience with an influencer, cite one from film or media. For full points, the influencer should be an employee within a work or organizational setting (not a YouTube or Instagram influencer).

Remember: influencers need not be managers or wield formal executive power. Often times they are an assistant, secretary or office manager.
