The overall objective of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) is to ensure business ethics. The business ethics are standards of conduct and moral values that govern actions and decisions in the work environment. They are important because a company cannot prosper in the long run without considering ethics. Business ethics are also shaped by the ethical climate within an organization. Codes of conduct and ethical standards play increasingly significant roles in businesses in which doing the right thing is both supported and applauded. While I agree there is a need to have a code of ethics in all companies but the content of the code of ethics is what I do not see happening properly in the next future. The problem with ethics is that they are broad and cover so many different topics. In addition, the code of ethics really relies in many cases on the judgment of the employee which is extremely dangerous. My question is, how would you tighten the rules of the code of ethics? You might want to pull a code of ethics for a company to discuss the point of views?
