Job Simulation Description-

Task: Please read the following scenario (See "Scenario") in order to draft a document that addresses the requests and questions listed below (See "Questions").

Scenario: Suppose that a manager requests assistance from you because they are experiencing challenges with a recently hired team member within their team. The manager indicates to you that throughout the onboarding process, the new hire has struggled to grasp the basic concepts of the job. Because of this, the management team is reluctant to allow the team member to begin to perform the primary functions of the job for which they were hired, thus impacting the team and customers. The manager would like to terminate the new hire because they "just don't get it," and they do not have the time to spend getting the new hire up to speed. They also do not want to "have to go through any sort of corrective action process" when they know this new hire will never grasp the job. You have been asked to provide guidance and options available to the manager.

Questions:

1. Outline the questions you would ask the manager.

2. What information, if any, would you request the manager send to you?

3. Outline the specific guidance you would provide the manager around moving forward with corrective action for the team member and provide justification for your guidance.

4. Outline what guidance you would provide to the manager on what he or she should or should not say to the team member.
