Reading Chapter Three in your book and listening to the TED Talk in this week's "Readings and Resources," please answer the following questions:

1. Consider what you learned in the TED Talk as well as what your book says on p. 43-44. Why do you think race is such an uncomfortable topic in the United States?

2. Our book mentions prejudice and stereotypes as two ways that people often make judgments about one another. If you are comfortable answering this question, please tell us what assumptions people have made about you in the past. If you are not comfortable talking about your own experience, you may use a character from a TV show/movie and discuss the stereotypes about them instead.

3. Look at the section on Cultural Values and Norms (p. 34-36). Give some examples of the way your own culture influences the way you communicate with others through those values and norms.
