Question

Laura Williams is a 20-year-old woman who was serving in the U.S. military in Afghanistan for a year when she was raped by a soldier in her unit. When she complained about this to her superior officer, he checked with the soldier involved, who said that it was a consensual relationship. The officer decided to take no further action. Subsequently Laura was gang-raped by several soldiers in her unit. This time, Laura sought medical help, as she was bruised. Still the officer refused to take any action.

When Laura became pregnant, she sought a medical leave, which was granted.

When she got home, she developed terrifying nightmares, flashbacks, and other symptoms of traumatic stress. If you were the intake social worker, how would you handle the first interview?
