Question

The following video includes nine examples of either plainchant (monophonic texture), organum duplum (two-voice textures), or organum quadruplum (four-voice textures). You are asked to identify each of these examples. Further, you are asked to determine if the organum that you hear is an example of florid or discant style (see the video "Leonin's Viderunt Setting" for a refresher on this before beginning this quiz). To determine this, you will have to determine if the Tenor is moving very slowly or relatively quickly in each example. Remember that these textures are determined by the nature of the original plainchant upon which they are assembled (syllabic or melismatic).
